
Classes
We are very happy to be in our new home with so many new and exciting products to offer our customers such as fabrics from Moda, Hoffman, Timeless Treasures, P & B, RJ Kaufman, Red Rooster, Marcus Fabrics, patterns, books, threads, hand dyed wool, ribbons and other embellishments. We offer classes in traditional quilting techniques as well as hand and machine applique, English paper piecing, hand piecing, crazy quilting, reed baskets, sewing weekends, and so much more! If there are any classes you would like to see offered at Log Cabin Fabrics, please let us know.
We have many new Block of the Month programs coming up. Beginning in January we will offer Civil War Journals by Marcus Fabrics, Ginger Rose by Andover Fabrics and a new wool Block of the Month called Summertime. In the spring we will offer a hand applique Block of the Month called Birds 'n Urns. We will also be offering a new Block of the Month by Bunny Hill Designs called Merry, Merry Snowmen with fabric from Moda; Northern Stars from Timeless Treasures; and Women of Courage from Windham Fabrics. Quilters, crafters, knitters, embroiderers – are you looking for a space to get together? Our classrooms are available for a nominal fee for your group to gather in. Call us to see what is available, 767-2040.
On the first Sunday of the month, Karen Gibbs of The Quilt Studio will be at Log Cabin Fabrics to pick up your quilt tops for quilting. She will bring them back to you, beautifully quilted, the following month. Karen will be at Log Cabin Fabrics on March 4, April 1, and May 6, at 3 pm.
10th Quilter's Quest Shop Hop – Passports for $5 are now on sale for this year's Shop Hop, May 31, June 1, 2 and 3. Tote bags will contain information about the eleven participating quilt shops. Have your passport stamped at each shop you visit to receive a pattern, three 10-inch fabric squares, and be eligible for the shop's daily drawing. Visit ALL eleven shops and submit your full passport to receive a Shop Hop pin, instructions for making a quilt top with the thirty-three 10-inch squares, and be eligible to win a gift certificate for $100, $75, or $50.

Tumbling Blocks Quilt with Noel Payton – Monday Feb. 6 & 27; 11 am-2 pm; $24 for this two-part class. This is a class in hand-piecing a classic quilt design. Piecing by hand allows for more control and accuracy for those tricky Y-seams in the Tumbling Blocks design. This type of sewing is very portable and many find it both soothing and addictive. Learn all the tricks with Noel and discover how easy it is.
Vacation Open Sew with Lisa – Wednesday, Feb 22; 10 am-4 pm; $18 Set aside some time to work on a project of your choice with Lisa's help.
Big Bag with Sandra – Wednesday, Feb. 22; 10 am-3 pm; $15 Work on a large bag like the Chubby Charmer or the Cosmo Bag.
Teenage Sewing Day with Bonnie – Thursday, Feb. 23; 10 am-4 pm; $30 Come try your hand at art quilting. Pizza for lunch included. Appropriate for ages 13 and up.
2-Day Vacation Sew-In – Friday, Feb. 24; 10 am-10 pm (dinner included); and Saturday, Feb. 25, 10 am-10 pm; $55 Spend two wonderful days working on a favorite project!

Wrap It To Go Book Cover with Londa – Thursday, March 1, 4 pm-8 pm; $15 Dress up a plain notebook and make writing fun! This is a super quick project.
Community Service Friday – March 2; 10 am-3 pm Come and use our sewing rooms to work on a community service project of your choice – Pillowcases, Preemie Quilts, Soldier Quilts, Raffle Quilts for your church or organization, quilts for chemo patients – any project that is community service related. In lieu of a fee for this sewing time, please donate a non-perishable food item for the local food pantry or a pillowcase that will be delivered to Grassroot Givers to help someone in our community. Landscape Weekend with Bonnie – Friday through Sunday, March 2-4; $65 Construct a landscape scene with Bonnie’s expert guidance. Use an actual picture or one from your imagination. “Luscious Landscape” by Joyce Becker is required for each student.

Sue Pritt Weekend! – Friday, March 9 from 5-9 pm (dinner included); Saturday, March 10 from 10 am-4 pm; and Sunday, March 11 from 10 am-2 pm; $75 Spend the entire weekend with Sue Pritt making her wonderful new pattern “Up North”. Just imagine working on this fabulous quilt for three days in a row!
Easter Reed Basket with Marji Baldwin – Saturday, March 10; 10 am-4 pm; $50 Make an adorable Easter Basket for someone special with Marji’s guidance. Appropriate for beginners and experienced basket makers. All supplies and materials are included.
Beginning Hand Applique with Pat Cunningham – Sunday, March 11; 1-2 p.m.; $12 Learn the technique of hand applique from the "Hand Applique Queen". This class will give you the skills needed to work on more advanced projects.
Bali Breeze Table Runner with Lisa – Monday, March 12; 10 am-3 pm; $18 Beautiful Batiks create a striking but ever-so-easy table runner that you can make in just one afternoon!

Bag Day with Sandra –Wednesday, March 14; 10 am-3 pm; $18 Work on a bag of your choice with Sandra’s guidance. Make it a great time to start a new bag or finish one that is already in progress.
Beginning English Paper Piecing with Pat Cunningham – Thursday, March 15; 1-4 pm $12 English Paper Piecing is a time-honored technique dating back to the early 1800's. It is a wonderfully simple method for constructing intricate quilt blocks with perfectly matched points. The project you will work on uses a simple pentagon shape to make a sweet table runner that you can finish in no time. This technique is done by hand and can go anywhere with you!
Wool Day with Lisa – Friday, March 16; 10 am-2 pm; $12 Wool applique is very relaxing! Work on a project of your own or Lisa will help you select a project to get started.

Beginner Quilt Class – Sunday, March 18, 25, April 1, 15, 22, and 29; Noon-4 pm; $90 for the entire series of classes. Learn the basics of quilt making from rotary cutting to binding. We will follow Harriet and Carrie Hargrave’s Quilter’s Academy Volume 1, Freshman Year. There are many projects in the book to choose from. Bring a friend and learn together. Book is required.
Thimbleberries Club with MaryAnn – Tuesday, March 20; 6:30 pm-8:30 pm; $10
Wool Candle Mat with Lisa – Thursday, March 22; 6-8:30 pm; $10. Whether you are new to wool applique or an expert, this is an easy, fun project.
Crazy Quilt Needle Case with Bonnie – Saturday, March 24; 10 am-2 pm; $15 This is a great way to learn the basics of hand embroidery and try your hand at working with silk ribbon.
Machine Embroidery with Londa Saturday, March 24, 10 am-3 pm; $15 Come and learn about your embroidery machine while working on some fun projects. Beginners welcome.
Wrist Bag with Sandra – Wednesday, March 28; 10 am-2 pm; $15 Choose Atkinson Designs Lollipop Bag or Fig Tree threads Purseletts. Both are easy bags with zippers that can be completed during this class.
Sew Easy Pajama Pants with Londa – Saturday, March 31, 10 am-3pm; $18 Every night feels like a slumber party when you are wearing a pair of pajama pants made from your favorite fabric. These are surprisingly easy to construct.

Miss Ruby Takes a Walk with Noel Payton – Sunday, April 1 & 15; Noon-4 pm; $35 for this two-part class. In two classes you will learn to make a beautiful spring wall hanging that will make you feel as though you are walking by the side of a stream. This original design was Noel's second entry in the 2011 McCall's Design Star Contest and won her the right to move on in that contest. Noel will teach you the Shoo Fly block in two sizes, the Arrowhead block (including her stylized version of that block), Ricky Tims' Flying Geese block, machine applique, embroidery, and button layering.
